Late August 2011, I was diagnosed as a Type II diabetic. This was not necessarily a shock to me as my mom has been diabetic for over 25 years and let's face it, I am overweight. I will say though that this diagnosis has been the kickstart I needed to make some dramatic changes in my lifestyle. After several posts of my new food choices and recipes it was suggested that I start a blog. So here I am!!!
About me:
I am a 33 year old mother of two amazing children, Heather and Anthony. These two mean everything to me. People always contemplate the meaning of life, but few have found the answer. My kids are my answer. I was put on this earth to be a mommy of the two most incredible children God could have created.
Heather is 14 and is definitely giving mommy a run for her money (boyfriends, cell phone, PUBERTY!!!). She has her moments and when she has those moments, I wonder where that quiet little baby went-LOL! She is an amazing and beautiful young lady. She does great in school and is a member of her high school band in where she plays the flute and piccolo, which she has a great talent for. She has such a bright future and I am incredibly proud of her.
Anthony is 11 and has a light that radiates with every smile. He has been diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, but I am determined to not let that stop him. He struggles with some of life more simple things, but he is learning to cope and it will only make him stronger. He loves his cars (he probably has 300 of them) and is incurably unorganized, but I love that about him. There is nothing in his way and there is nothing he will not be able to accomplish.
I am a graduate of the University of South Florida's College of Education in Tampa, FL. I earned my Bachelor's in Science Degree in Exceptional Student Education in May 2011. The unfortunate state of the economy has made finding a full-time teaching assignment, but when God feels it is time it will happen. I love everything about what I do and cannot wait to be able to use my passion and skills to shape the lives of tomorrow's leaders.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Michael. We have been married for 15 years now, and I wish I could say it has been all butterflies and roses. It has been a difficult marriage, but what marriage isn't, right? We have had more downs that ups, but somehow manage to keep going. I love him with everything I have in me, but that intense love is what can often make the rough patches hurt so much.
So sit back, relax, comment, and enjoy reading this blog as much as I will enjoy writing it.
